Batch Text Writer

📝 A Complete Guide to the Batch Text Writer

PhenoCapture’s Batch Text Writer is a massive time-saver for anyone who needs to add captions, labels, or watermarks to multiple photos at once. Instead of opening and editing images one by one, this tool allows you to automatically stamp customized text onto an entire folder of images in just a few seconds.

Whether you are labeling a digital photo album, numbering scanned documents, or adding copyright text to your designs, this feature handles the heavy lifting for you.

💡 Key Features

  • High-Speed Batch Processing: Apply text to dozens or hundreds of images automatically. Just point the tool to your image folder, and it does the rest.
  • Smart Custom Captions: You are not limited to stamping the exact same text on every photo. You can assign specific captions to specific images in your sequence using a simple text format.
  • Full Typographic Control: Choose the exact font, size, and styling you want. You can also specify the precise X and Y coordinates to place your text exactly where you need it.
  • High-Visibility Outlines: The tool automatically applies a contrasting outline to your text (e.g., black text with a white outline), ensuring your captions are always highly readable, regardless of how dark or light the background image is.
  • Flexible Export Options: Save your newly captioned images in a variety of popular formats, including JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, or GIF, and even control the compression quality.

🛠️ How to Use the Batch Text Writer

Adding text to an entire batch of images is fast and straightforward. Just follow these steps:

Step 1: Choose Your Image Source

Select where your images are coming from using the dropdown menu. You can choose to process images from your current File Manager view, a custom folder on your computer, or a drag-and-drop file box.

Step 2: Set the Destination and Format

Click Set New Folder to choose exactly where you want your newly captioned images to be saved. Then, select your preferred File Format (like JPG or PNG). If you choose JPG, you can also adjust the compression rate to balance image quality and file size.

Step 3: Write Your Captions

Type your text into the Caption box. To apply specific text to specific images in your batch, use the F[Number]: format.

  • For example, typing F1: Summer Vacation will apply that text to the first image in your batch.
  • Typing F2: Day at the Beach will apply that text to the second image, and so on.

Step 4: Position and Style Your Text

Click the Font button to choose your preferred typeface, style, and size. Next, enter the X (horizontal) and Y (vertical) coordinates to determine exactly where the text should appear on your photos.

Step 5: Start Recording!

Once everything is set up, click the Record button. The tool will rapidly process your batch, adding your custom captions and saving the finished images to your target folder. A progress bar will keep you updated every step of the way!

(Tip: If you realize you made a mistake during a large batch, you can always click the Stop button to safely halt the process.)

With the Batch Text Writer, organizing, labeling, and watermarking your image collections is completely automated and hassle-free!
