Unselect

✨ A Complete Guide to the Unselect Tool and Shortcuts

PhenoCapture’s Unselect tool allows you to instantly clear your current active selection, giving you a clean slate to work with. Alongside the standard menu option, the software features incredibly handy keyboard shortcuts that make managing complex selections and drawing intricate shapes significantly faster and more intuitive.

💡 Key Features

  • Instant Selection Clear: With a single click from the menu, you can completely dismiss and reset your current selection boundaries. This hides the mask and instantly returns you to a full-image workspace.
  • Quick Clear (Delete Key): For a faster, uninterrupted workflow, simply press the Delete key on your keyboard. This instantly wipes your active selection without needing to navigate through any menus.
  • Precision Point Removal (Backspace Key): Mistakes happen when drawing complex boundaries! If you are in the middle of tracing a custom Polygon or a Path and accidentally place a point in the wrong spot, just press the Backspace key. This will instantly undo the very last point you added, allowing you to seamlessly correct your path without having to restart the entire shape.

🛠️ How to Use the Unselect Features

Clearing an Entire Selection

If you have an active selection on your workspace that you no longer need, you can clear it using one of two easy methods:

  • Method 1: Navigate to the top menu and click on Unselect.
  • Method 2 (Fastest): Simply press the Delete key on your keyboard for an instant reset.

Fixing a Polygon or Path While Drawing

If you are actively clicking around an object to manually draw a custom polygon or path boundary:

  1. If you notice your last click was placed incorrectly, do not close the shape!
  2. Press the Backspace key on your keyboard.
  3. Your last point will vanish. You can press it multiple times to step back further, then simply click again to place your points in the correct locations!
