🖼️ A Complete Guide to Image Preview
PhenoCapture’s Image Preview is a smart, independent viewing window designed to let you inspect your images in perfect detail before working on them. Whether you are checking the sharpness of a microscopic scan or organizing your photo library, this tool ensures your images are displayed accurately and beautifully.
Here is everything you need to know about using the Image Preview window to its full potential.
💡 Key Features
- Smart Aspect Ratio Lock: Never worry about your images looking stretched or squished! When you resize the preview window, the software automatically locks the aspect ratio, keeping your image’s original proportions perfectly intact.
- Adjustable Viewing Quality (Interpolation): You have full control over how the image is rendered on your screen. Switch to Nearest Neighbor to see raw, blocky pixels (great for scientific analysis or pixel art), or select High Quality Bicubic for the smoothest, most visually pleasing photograph display.
- Instant Drag & Drop Extraction: Found the image you want to edit? You don’t need to navigate through menus. Simply click directly on the image inside the preview window and drag it straight into your main workspace!
- Live Info Title Bar: The very top of the window constantly updates to give you crucial information at a glance, including the exact file name, original pixel dimensions, and your current zoom percentage.
🛠️ How to Use the Image Preview
Inspecting and transferring your images is incredibly seamless. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Open an Image
When you open an image in the Preview tool, it will instantly load and adjust the window size to best fit your screen. (If the image file is corrupted or missing, the window will clearly display an error message so you aren’t left guessing!)
Step 2: Adjust the Rendering Quality
Depending on what you are looking for, use the dropdown menu at the top to change the interpolation mode:
- For smoothing out photos: Choose High Quality Bilinear or High Quality Bicubic.
- For analyzing exact pixels: Choose Nearest Neighbor so the edges remain perfectly sharp and raw.
Step 3: Resize the Window
Need a bigger view? Simply click and drag the corners of the window. The previewer will elegantly scale the image up or down while perfectly preserving its original shape.
Step 4: Drag and Drop to Workspace
When you are ready to process or edit the image, simply click and hold your mouse anywhere on the image inside the preview window, drag it over to your main PhenoCapture workspace, and let go. The image will load instantly!
With the Image Preview tool, inspecting, scaling, and importing your photos is a smooth and professional experience!
