Remote Camera Client

💻 A Complete Guide to Remote Camera Client

PhenoCapture’s Remote Camera Client is the perfect companion to the Remote Camera Server. It allows you to securely connect to another computer and watch its live webcam feed or desktop screen from anywhere. Whether you are monitoring a lab experiment remotely or checking in on a remote workstation, this tool gives you a clear, real-time window into the host computer.

Here is everything you need to know about connecting to a remote camera feed.

💡 Key Features

  • Secure Authentication: Your privacy is guaranteed. To access a remote feed, you must enter the exact Target IP Address, Port, User ID, and Password configured on the host server.
  • Dual Viewing Modes: You are not limited to just the webcam! You can easily toggle between watching the Remote Webcam feed or viewing the host computer’s entire Remote Desktop screen.
  • Continuous Live Stream: By checking the Continuous box, the client will constantly request new frames from the server, creating a smooth, real-time video feed rather than just a single snapshot.
  • Smart Auto-Reconnect: Network drops happen. If you enable the Auto-Connect feature, the software will automatically try to re-establish the connection if it gets temporarily disconnected, ensuring your monitoring goes uninterrupted.

🛠️ How to Use the Remote Camera Client

Connecting to your remote host takes just a few seconds. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Enter the Server Details

Open the Remote Camera Client tool. In the Target IP Address and Port Number boxes, enter the exact network details of the computer running the Remote Camera Server.

Step 2: Authenticate Your Access

Type in the User ID and Password that were set up on the host server. If these credentials don’t match exactly, your connection will be rejected.

Step 3: Choose Your Viewing Mode

Select what you want to see by checking either the Remote Webcam or Remote Desktop option.
(Tip: Make sure the Continuous box is checked if you want a live, updating video feed instead of just a single still image!)

Step 4: Connect and Monitor

Once your details are entered, click the Connect button. The software will securely link to the server, and a new Viewer window will instantly pop up, displaying the live feed from the remote computer!

(Tip: If you want the software to automatically reconnect in case of a Wi-Fi hiccup, simply check the Auto-Connect box before leaving your computer unattended.)

With the Remote Camera Client, keeping an eye on remote experiments, security feeds, and workstations is completely seamless and secure!
