Drag Drop Image Box

🖼️ A Complete Guide to Drag Drop Image Box

PhenoCapture’s Image Boxes (Buffers) act as your personal, high-speed visual clipboard. Instead of opening multiple windows or saving temporary files to your hard drive, you can store up to 10 images directly in these convenient slots. It is the perfect tool for comparing different edits, holding reference photos, or managing multiple mask selections.

Here is everything you need to know about mastering your workflow with Image Buffers.

💡 Key Features

  • 10 Independent Slots: The buffer panel provides 10 dedicated picture boxes. You can safely store multiple images, masks, or edits simultaneously without cluttering your main workspace.
  • Smart Hover Preview: No need to squint at tiny thumbnails! Simply hover your mouse over any filled buffer slot for half a second. A sleek, magnified Popup Preview will instantly appear right next to your cursor, displaying the image in high detail along with its exact resolution and file path.
  • Universal Drag & Drop: Moving images is incredibly fluid. You can drag an image from your main workspace into a buffer, swap images between different buffer slots, or even drop image files directly from your computer into any slot.
  • Advanced Context Menu: Right-clicking on any buffer slot opens a powerful menu. You can instantly Push the image back to your workspace, Copy it to your clipboard, Save As a new file, or even use it to create complex binary mask selections!

🛠️ How to Use Image Buffers

Storing and managing your temporary images is extremely fast and intuitive. Follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Save an Image to a Buffer

Whenever you have an image or an edited result in your main workspace that you want to keep, simply click and drag it into one of the empty buffer slots. You can also right-click the image and select a buffer slot from the menu, or drop a file directly from Windows Explorer.

Step 2: Inspect Your Buffers

If you forget what is stored in a slot, just rest your mouse cursor over the image. The Smart Hover Preview will automatically pop up, showing you a larger, crisp view of the image along with its dimensions so you know exactly what you are working with.

Step 3: Restore or Export Your Image

When you are ready to use a buffered image, Right-Click on its slot. From the menu, you can:

  • Select Put to Workspace to instantly send the image back to your main editing canvas.
  • Select Copy to paste the image into another program (like Word or PowerPoint).
  • Select Save As to export the buffered image permanently as a new file.
  • Select Clear if you are done with the image and want to free up the slot.

(Tip: You can also drag an image straight from the buffer box back into your main workspace for ultra-fast loading!)

With Image Buffers, juggling multiple photos, edits, and masks becomes a perfectly organized and seamless experience!
