Multiple ROIs

🎯 A Complete Guide to Multi-ROIs

PhenoCapture’s Multi-ROIs (Multiple Regions of Interest) tool makes it incredibly easy to define, manage, and apply multiple distinct analysis areas across your images. Whether you are running batch analyses on several specific targets or meticulously adjusting a list of coordinates, this tool acts as your central hub for region management.

Here is everything you need to know to start managing multiple regions of interest like a pro.

💡 Key Features

  • Flexible Shape Support: Seamlessly save and manage standard Rectangles and Circles drawn directly on your main workspace.
  • Bi-Directional Syncing: Experience total control over your workflow. You can push a saved region back to the workspace to view it (Out), or pull a modified shape from the workspace to update your saved list (In).
  • Easy List Management: Reorder your targets effortlessly using the Up and Down buttons, or insert new regions precisely where you need them in the queue.
  • Bulk Import & Export: Have a specific set of coordinates you need to reuse? You can quickly Paste up to 100 regions directly from your clipboard (formatted as Shape, X1, Y1, X2, Y2) or Copy your current list out to Excel for external safekeeping.

🛠️ How to Use the Multi-ROIs Tool

Building and managing your list of regions is quick and highly intuitive:

Step 1: Add a New Region

Draw a rectangle or circle on your main image workspace. Once you are happy with the shape, click the Add button in the Multi-ROIs tool. This will save the shape type and its exact coordinates (Left, Top, Right, Bottom) as a new row at the bottom of your data grid. (Note: Only rectangle and circle shapes are supported by this tool.)

Step 2: Insert or Update Regions

  • Insert: Need to add a shape in the middle of your list? Select a specific row in your grid, draw your new shape on the workspace, and click Insert to place it exactly at the selected position.
  • Update (In): If you need to tweak an existing region’s size or position, select it in the list, make your adjustments on the main workspace, and click In to overwrite the old coordinates with your new drawing.

Step 3: View Saved Regions on the Workspace

To see exactly where a saved region is located on your image, select its row and click the Out button (or simply double-click the row’s content). The tool will instantly project that exact shape back onto your main workspace for visual confirmation.

Step 4: Reorder and Clean Up Your List

Keep your analysis sequence perfectly organized:

  • Select a row and use the Up or Down buttons to change its processing order in the list.
  • Use the Delete button to remove a single selected region, or hit Clear to completely wipe the table and start fresh.

Step 5: Copy and Paste ROI Data

  • Export: Click Copy to send your entire formatted ROI table to your clipboard, perfect for backing up your coordinates or pasting into a spreadsheet.
  • Import: You can paste external coordinates directly into the tool by clicking Paste. Just ensure your text is formatted properly: it must contain exactly 5 columns separated by tabs (Shape, X1, Y1, X2, Y2) and contain no more than 100 rows.

(Tip: Pressing the Escape (Esc) key at any time will quickly hide the Multi-ROIs window and seamlessly return your focus to the main workspace!)
