Perfect Framing with the Crop Tool
Whether you want to remove an unwanted object from the edge of a photo, focus entirely on your main subject, or trim the empty white borders from a scanned document, cropping is one of the most essential image editing steps. PhenoCapture’s Crop tool makes this process incredibly flexible, offering both intuitive visual controls and pixel-perfect precision.
Designed for everyday users and professionals alike, this tool ensures that you can always frame your images exactly the way you want them.
💡 Key Features
- Easy Crop Mode: When enabled, this mode opens a dedicated, distraction-free preview window right inside the tool. You can freely draw and adjust your cropping rectangle here without accidentally affecting other elements in your main workspace.
- Pixel-Perfect Precision: Need an image to be an exact size? You can manually type in the precise Width, Height, and starting coordinates (Left/Top) to crop your image to strict dimensions.
- Live Dimension Tracking: As you click and drag the edges of your crop box, the width and height numbers update instantly in real-time, giving you total control over the final size of your picture.
- Seamless Workspace Integration: If you prefer, you can turn off Easy Crop Mode to interact directly with the main workspace, utilizing PhenoCapture’s standard advanced selection tools to define your crop area.
- Safety Locks & Minimum Sizes: The tool intuitively prevents you from cropping an image too small, ensuring you always retain a usable, high-quality result.
🛠️ How to Use the Crop Tool
Getting the perfect composition takes only a few seconds. Just follow these steps:
Step 1: Choose Your Cropping Mode
When you open the tool, you can check or uncheck Easy Crop Mode.
- Leave it checked to use the convenient built-in preview window to draw your box.
- Uncheck it if you have already drawn a selection box in your main workspace and just want to crop to that exact area.
Step 2: Draw and Adjust the Crop Box
Click and drag your mouse over the image to create a rectangular boundary. This box represents the area of the image that will be kept. You can easily click and drag the edges or corners of this box to resize it until your subject is perfectly framed.
Step 3: Fine-Tune with Numbers (Optional)
If you are preparing an image for a specific purpose (like a profile picture or a website banner that requires an exact size), look at the dimension boxes. You can manually tweak the Width and Height numbers to get the exact pixel size you need.
Step 4: Apply the Crop
Once you are happy with the framed area, simply click the OK button. The unwanted edges will be instantly sliced away, leaving you with a perfectly composed image in your main workspace.
With PhenoCapture’s Crop tool, achieving the perfect focus and composition for your photos and documents is just a drag and a click away!
