🌐 A Complete Guide to Online Live View
PhenoCapture’s Online Live View transforms your computer into a personal broadcasting station. Whether you need to monitor a science experiment from another room, set up a makeshift security camera, or share your live screen with a colleague, this tool creates a secure web link that lets anyone watch your live feed directly from their web browser—no extra software required!
Here is everything you need to know about setting up your own live web broadcast.
💡 Key Features
- Instant Web Server: The software has a built-in web server. With just one click, it starts broadcasting your active webcam (or your computer screen if no camera is connected).
- Local & Global Access: The tool automatically detects your Internal IP (for sharing with people on your home or office Wi-Fi) and your External IP (for accessing your feed from anywhere in the world).
- Smart Auto-Naming: To keep your broadcast secure and private, the software generates a random, complex web address (HTML name) by default. You can also turn this off and create your own custom, easy-to-remember web link.
- Live Timestamps: Every frame broadcasted to the web automatically includes a sleek, accurate timestamp and camera name stamped directly onto the image, making it perfect for monitoring and documentation.
- Format & Quality Control: Stream your feed in JPG, PNG, BMP, or GIF format. If you want a smoother stream that uses less internet bandwidth, simply select JPG and adjust the compression rate!
🛠️ How to Use Online Live View
Starting your own live broadcast takes only a few seconds. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Check Your Address Settings
Open the Online Live View tool. Your computer’s Local IP Address will be automatically selected. You can leave the Port Number as it is, unless you have specific network requirements.
Step 2: Set Your Broadcast Name
By default, Auto Naming is checked, which generates a secure, random link for your broadcast. If you want a specific link name, uncheck the box and type your desired name into the User Naming box.
Step 3: Choose Image Quality
Select your preferred image format from the dropdown. For the fastest and smoothest web stream, choose JPG and set the Compression Rate (around 80-90 is a great balance between quality and speed).
Step 4: Start the Broadcast
Click the Start button! The software will instantly begin capturing your live feed and hosting it on your custom web link.
Step 5: View in Your Browser
Once started, the Launch Web Browser buttons will light up. Click the Internal IP button to instantly open the live feed on your own computer, or copy the External IP link to watch the feed from your smartphone or another computer!
(Tip: When you are finished broadcasting, simply click the Stop button to safely close the server.)
